Google announces Gemini 4 Argon rollout after traders reverse course
The rollout reaches paid subscribers and developers, but whether that qualifies as public access remains for official resolution.

Bets on a public Gemini 4 release have settled at Yes, after climbing from near certainty; official resolution remains pending.
Bets on a public Gemini 4 release have settled at Yes after a final rise from near certainty. Google says Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out, but the question is not officially resolved: its criteria require public access, and whether the announced rollout meets that standard remains unsettled.
The odds had swung sharply in the days before settling. They were close to even on October 11, then surged on October 12 and climbed further Tuesday. Reporting by Pasquale Pillitteri and others linked the earlier speculation to Gemini API lead Logan Kilpatrick’s “Gemini” post and reports of Argon identifiers in Google’s Antigravity software. The final nudge’s immediate trigger is unclear; Google’s announcement confirmed the rollout but may have come after the move.
Google unveiled Gemini 4 Argon on September 30, first making it available to selected cyber defenders in its Fairwind program. It said wider access would follow safety testing, without giving a public date. Its latest announcement lists availability in the Gemini app and AI Mode for Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, in Antigravity for Ultra subscribers, and through developer and enterprise tools.
That scope is central to the question. The criteria allow an open beta or rolling waitlist, but exclude closed beta or private access. Google’s announcement clearly describes availability; whether access limited to subscribers and users of developer tools counts as access for the general public is what official resolution must determine. Google says more Gemini 4 releases will follow, but has not specified when.
