Russia–Ukraine war
Ukraine's Air Force leaves Kyiv off its list of 22 sites hit in the October 17 attack
Ukrainska Pravda reported the Air Force's list of 22 hit locations omitted Kyiv city; traders are certain no qualifying strike hit Kyiv that day.

The final slide now has a likely cause: the Air Force's list of 22 hit locations omitted Kyiv city, per Ukrainska Pravda.
Ukraine's Air Force did not name Kyiv city among the locations hit in Russia's large-scale overnight attack of October 16–17, according to Ukrainska Pravda. Traders now treat it as certain that Russia did not carry out a qualifying strike on Kyiv on October 17, though the question has not formally resolved. Bets on such a strike slid to almost nothing on Friday.
The likely reason is the lack of confirmation. The Air Force reported hits at 22 locations during the barrage, and contemporaneous reporting identified missile strikes in Zaporizhzhia and Kryvyi Rih, according to Ukrainska Pravda and RBC-Ukraine. Reports that refer to Kyiv Oblast or regional energy infrastructure do not by themselves show a strike inside Kyiv city, which the question requires. KyivPost reported an air alert and a Russian drone approaching the capital from the north, but that does not show a strike was carried out in the city.
The odds traveled a sharp path. Through October 16, traders considered a strike on Kyiv on the 17th likely, and that view strengthened after a major missile-and-drone attack on October 13–14 and a drone attack on the capital on October 15. On October 17 itself the bets collapsed to a long shot and stayed there. They rose on October 19, fell back the next day, and spiked on Thursday before reversing within hours. A brief jump early Friday also faded by midday, before bets sank to almost nothing.
Later attacks on the capital may have blurred the picture. Kyiv's military administration said Russian drones threatened the city on October 18, and officials reported damage in two districts on October 20. Interfax-Ukraine reported a barrage on Kyiv on October 22 that killed one person and injured 24. Those events fall on other dates and do not count toward the October 17 question. Traders still consider a strike on Kyiv on October 23 likely.
The rules call for an air or surface-to-surface missile strike directed at a location in Kyiv on the listed date, based on official Ukrainian or Russian information and credible reporting. Interception does not rule a strike out, but threats, drone alerts and minor strikes do not count.
The date has passed, so nothing that happens next can change what occurred that day. No scheduled event bears on the question. The outcome depends on whether evidence emerges of an executed strike on Kyiv city on October 17, and on how the question is formally resolved.
